Whether you are a singer, an instrumentalist, a writer of poetry, or even an actor rehearsing a scene, The Doctor's Office is hosting a weekly gathering of performers every Saturday from 6:00 PM until 8:00. Even if you have nothing prepared, just come on down and add a little part to the group singing that seems to always happen by the end of the evening. FAMILY OPEN SKATE —NEW LONGER SEASON Bring your own skates and helmet and enjoy a fun family evening of music, friends and exercise! It's a great way to spend cold winter Saturday nights. 'Art as a Voice' is a series of presentations by exhibiting artists featured at the Islands Museum of Art (IMA) IMA's spring exhibition features, world renown photographer, Art Wolfe. Before his exhibition opens to the public, at 7:30 on March 13th at IMA, he will share his special multi—media, photography adventure with the public at the San Juan Community Theater. This presentation centers on the Himalaya region and reflects Wolfe's most personal statement to date. March 13, 2010 ST. PATRICK’S DAY DINNER & EXTRAVAGANZA at the San Juan Island Yacht club beginning at 6 pm. Soroptimist International of Friday Harbor’s annual fundraiser features a corned beef & cabbage or vegetarian dinner, silent auction and raffle. A live auction begins at 7:30. Good food and good times for a good cause! Proceeds will fund Soroptimist’s scholarships and service projects for the coming year. Adults $$20, Seniors (65+) $$15, Children (under 10) $$10. Use tracker 'tools' including your senses, your intuition and knowledge to unfold wildlife 'stories'. Zoom in on local mammal life for some skullduggery. Make a mammal track chart to use in your backyard or the local parks. Use tracking books and replicated tracks and animal scats to help you dive deeper into the art of tracking. 'Become' a mammal in a 'woodland party'. Dress for the outdoors for a short hike near the Library in search of animal signs. This class is intended for Adults and Families. Children younger than 11 years old must be accompanied by an adult. COMMUNITY OPEN GYM Come out and Play! We will open up Turnbull Gym on Sunday evenings for families to play together. Parents with children of all ages are welcome to come out of the rain and play indoors. SWIM LESSONS Island Rec contracts with San Juan Island Fitness to provide swim lessons for Island children. Lessons begin with four year olds in the small pool advancing through refinement of swimming strokes with older swimmers. For infants and tot there is opportunity for parent led swim play times. In addition to the fee you pay, Island Rec pays an additional $$25 fee per child to SJIF. PARENT AND TOT OPEN SWIM Come play with your baby or young tot in the warm water small pool during this open life guarded swim time. Water toys are available.
